devlog #1 - The start
Saw the prompt for the game jam and immediately thought of Katamari Damacy but it’s a beach cleanup. Honestly though, I’ve been thinking about how Katamari was probably implemented for the past couple of weeks. It was one of my favorite childhood games, and I thought it would be cool to make a game inspired by it.
I asked a friend of mine if he had any ideas after looking at the prompt, and he suggested a game about being a dick at the beach (since that’s what people love). Being a beach ball and bouncing off of people’s heads. Putting the two ideas together, I thought of the premise for this game! :)
I started putting together the GDD right away. I made a rough project timeline and even started to implement the beach ball movement, the first beachgoer and some textures.
One tablet and non-dominant hand drawing later, I came up with these masterpieces and added them to the game.
I also found some sound effects and music to add to the game! Still deciding on which music to add to the game, but I do want a jazzy sort of feel. :)
