devlog #5 - All the systems


A lot of scripting today. Like. A lot. I made scripts for the time limit, score system, dialogue, the UI, and the overall game manager. I honestly took some shortcuts for the game events, but it should be okay for now (at least for the jam).

It’s starting to actually look like a game now! 

... No. Not that one...

Next plan is to: add audio, make a title screen graphic, make those beach umbrella assets, and just start designing the overall level. Will also need to make terribly drawn skybox textures somewhere along the way.

Also, this isn’t next in my plans, but I’m starting to think about things to add/change during the polish stage.

  • Add shadows to NPCs / objects
  • Cell shading for the player character ball
  • Particle effects on ball
  • Better NPC movement
  • A more balanced scoring system
